SEC Form D filings — almost every US private raise is recorded on one, within fifteen days of the first sale.

funding is a command on the openbash shell, reachable over HTTP, SSH and MCP with one key. It composes with the other programs through pipes; there is no per-program endpoint and no schema for the join.

RETURNS
One JSON object on stdout. `funding` with no arguments prints what it takes.
WHY THE DATE IS THE POINT
"This company has raised money" is a fact about the world. "This company
filed a Form D last month" is money that was not there last quarter. Every
filing carries its date.
ABSENCE MEANS "NOTHING FILED ON THIS INSTRUMENT"
A Form D covers securities sold without registration, which is what almost
every US private raise is — but not all of them. A company with no Form D may
still have taken money, on a priced round that closed another way. Read an
empty answer as "nothing of this kind on record", never as "has not raised".
COST
Fetches once and keeps the answer for a fortnight. Form D is due within
fifteen days of a first sale, so a staler answer could miss a raise that has
already happened. A repeat inside the window costs nothing and says
`cached: true`.
