webcertificates — Web certificates: names just stood up — openbash
Certificates issued for names at or under a domain — a new subdomain is a service going live, usually within hours.
webcertificates
webcertificates is a command on the openbash shell, reachable over HTTP, SSH and MCP with one key. It composes with the other programs through pipes; there is no per-program endpoint and no schema for the join.
webcertificates search acme.com
help
webcertificates: names just stood up on a domain, as JSON.
RETURNS
One JSON object on stdout.
THE FRESHEST SIGNAL HERE
Every certificate a public authority issues is written to an append-only log
anyone may read, and browsers refuse certificates that are not in one. So the
logs are a complete record of names being stood up, with the hour on each. A
new api., checkout. or status. is a company building something this week.
A PLATFORM DOMAIN ANSWERS "WHO JUST JOINED"
A new store gets a certificate for its name under `myshopify.com` like any
other tenant, so that question needs no scraper anywhere near the platform.
The same works for any hosted product with per-customer subdomains.
A LOOKALIKE IS NOT A MATCH
The logs match a substring, which is not what anyone means: a search for
`stripe.com` returns `www.online--stripe.com`, somebody else's domain. The
boundary is enforced here, so you get `api.stripe.com` and not that.
Studies:
search <domain>
certificates issued for names at or under a domain, newest first
JSON to stdout, so it composes: pipe to `jq` to pick a field, or `> /tmp/…` to keep it.
Run a study with no arguments — `webcertificates search` — to see what it takes.
